Exterior Solutions
Nobody calls a contractor about soffit. They call about a leak, or a wasp nest, or a squirrel that got into the attic, and the actual cause turns out to be six feet of rotted fascia board that has been soaking behind a gutter for four years. Exterior trim fails out of sight, and by the time it is obvious the repair has grown.
Because we are already on the roof and already taking the gutters down, we are usually the first ones to see it. So we handle it in the same trip rather than sending you off to find a carpenter.
Fascia carries your gutters. When it goes soft, the gutter pulls loose, water runs behind it instead of through it, and the rot spreads down the board. We cut out the failed sections, replace them with the right material and make sure whatever goes back up has solid wood to fasten into.
Soffit is what ventilates the attic and what keeps animals out of it. A blocked soffit starves the intake air your ridge vent depends on, and the attic heat that follows takes years off a new roof. A damaged soffit is an open door. We replace the failed panels and keep the intake venting clear and working.
Rake boards, corner boards, window and door trim, the pieces that make an exterior look finished or look tired. Handled alongside the roof so the trim line and the roof line actually meet, with proper flashing at every roof to wall transition.
The reason to bundle this with the roof is simple. The staging, the ladders and the crew are already there. Splitting it into separate projects months apart means paying for the same setup twice and living with a partially finished exterior in between.
Exterior questions
Gutters pulling away from the house, sagging sections, peeling paint along the board, or soft wood when you press it. From the ground it is hard to see, which is why it usually turns up in our drone photos before the homeowner notices.
Because it is the intake half of your attic ventilation. A ridge vent can only exhaust what the soffit lets in. Block or damage the soffit and the attic runs hot, which cooks the shingles from underneath and shortens the life of a roof you just paid for.
Whatever is honest. If the damage is contained and the material can be matched, a section repair is the right call. If the board is failing along its length or the match would look obviously patched, we will say so and price both options.
Often yes. Wind and hail damage to fascia, soffit and trim is claimable in the same way roof damage is, and it is frequently missed in the original scope. We document it with the same photo set. More on storm claims.
